Eco Awareness

Great News!

We have been awarded Silver Eco School status and have been recogised as the 'Most Improved Eco School' in Coventry. Well done to our Year 6 Eco Squad and the adults who support them; Mrs Walker our Eco Co-ordinator, Mrs Gittins our Eco Link Governor, Mrs Hamman our Healthy Schools Co-ordinator and Mr Griffin our Site Services Officer. They have all worked very hard on this project.

We continue in our efforts to be a green school by recycling food waste, paper, cardboard, water and printer cartridges. Our Gardening Club meets weekly to learn how to grow organic vegetables which we will use in our lunchtime salad bar. Our Eco Squad patrol the school daily noting where lights, taps and computers have been left on when rooms are empty and we name and shame classes in assembly who have wasted the most energy. We have a secure cycle rack for staff and pupils to leave their bikes if they cycle to school and we have just established our Walking Bus.

Our fruit tuck shop now sells fresh juice as well as apples, pears, raisins, bananas and oranges.

We are also very excited to have made contact with a school in Mumbai in India and are emailing their children to learn about their culture and lifestyles and to set up a joint eco project.

We are busy, busy, busy but really enjoying making a difference to our planet!
